Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingsport Participates in Summer Food Service Program

Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child's need for good nutrition. In Tennessee, 1 in 4 children face hunger every day. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service (not all prohibited bases apply to all programs.) Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times listed below:

Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kingsport- Eastman Unit
1 Positive Place Kingsport TN, 37662
Breakfast Served 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Lunch Served 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Of the children in Tennessee who qualify for free and reduced lunch, only a small percentage are being reached by summer programs like the SFSP.

While children are in school, they can take advantage of the school breakfast and lunch program. When summer arrives, a vast majority of the children eligible for this program do not know where their next meal is coming from.

To file a program complaint alleging discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form (AD-3027), found online at http://www.ascr.usda/gov/complaint_filing_cust.html and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
