Kingsport Boys & Girls Club has Two MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Participants Advance to Team Championship
Bently said, “I’m excited to represent Kingsport, the Boys & Girls Club and Tribe baseball in Cincinnati. Thank you to my family, especially my dad who spends countless hours with me off the field. Shout out to my mom who can always be heard cheering me on!”
Bently P., 13 yrs. old, and Paisley B., 8 yrs. old were invited to participate in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Cincinnati Reds baseball field and will be able to attend a Reds baseball game that same day.
The Kingsport Boys & Girls Club hosted its local MLB Pitch, Hit & Run in July and kids ages 7-14 competed in three different skills competitions in hopes of being the winner for their age group. The scores of all participants are logged into the national MLB Pitch, Hit & Run database where they are compared to other participants in our region. Bently and Paisley’s individual scores were high enough compared to the other regional participants, that the two received personal invitations to attend the Team Championships.
It’s the first time in the Club’s history hosting this event that multiple participants scored high enough to advance to the next level of competition.
The Team Championship event takes place Saturday, August 1 at the Cincinnati Reds baseball field and all kids who participate will get the chance to attend the baseball game that evening against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Paisley said, “I’m excited to be representing my small hometown team the Union Bears, my travel ball team Rogue and the Boys and Girls Club of Kingsport. I’m thankful for my dad because he takes me to all my practices and helps me work on getting better. I hope my mom doesn’t embarrass me by yelling and cheering for me to loud from the stands. There’s also no better place to do this than at the home stadium of my favorite MLB team the Cincinnati Reds”
If Bently and Paisley do well in the Team Championship, they will have the chance to qualify and participate in an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run, National Finals during the MLB World Series.
The entire Club staff wishes both the best of luck when travelling to Cincinnati to compete on Saturday, August 1 and hope both kids advance to the National Finals.
